Hyperglossary published!

Having declared it officially 'done', the SecAware information security hyperglossary is finally self-published as an eBook in PDF format. More than three thousand terms-of-art are defined in the areas of:
  • Information risk
  • Information security
  • Cybersecurity (IT/Internet security)
  • ICS/SCADA/OT security
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Privacy, data protection, personal information
  • Governance
  • Conformity and compliance
  • Incidents
  • Business continuity
  • and more.
It has taken me three decades so far to compile the glossary, initially just as a reference for my personal use, then for our security awareness clients, and now for anyone with a little cash to spare and an interest in the field.

The glossary works best as an electronic/online reference. The definition of 'Electronic Health Record (EHR)', for instance, uses specialist terms such as sensitive and personal information that are hyperlinked to the corresponding definitions elsewhere in the hyper-glossary.

'EHR' has its own separate entry "Abbrev: Electronic Health Record", linking to the definition, so you should easily find a definition whether you look up an abbreviation or the full term.  Several hundred common abbreviations are included.

Following hyperlinks takes just a click or tap on a touch-sensitive screen. It's very intuitive and very useful: I still use it myself, particularly when unfamiliar terms crop up in the literature, or when neologisms are coined and then gradually defined and refined in practice. Recently, for instance, I have added a tidy stack of definitions for Artificial Intelligence terms, as well as updating numerous entries from relevant standards - of which there are many.

We would like to partner with a publisher or professional organisation, both for the current release and future (annual?) revisions as the language continues to evolve. The glossary deserves wider circulation within the field, bringing everyone to the same page as it were. If you know of anyone who might be interested, please get in touch.
